Jesus…
The pain I feel can’t be summed up in words.
My bones feel crushed,
And my heart is broken.
My Lord, this is anguish
A quiet death of hope.
I’m hopeless.
My feet feel frozen,
My eyes are dim.
I’m gripped with sorrow
No one else can feel.

My hope is in You,
My Restorer, my Friend.
My Savior, save me from this life
The one where pain never ends.
Oh Lord, I see Your scars,
I imagine Your pain.
I focus my eyes where they pierced You;
I take a good look within.
You were bruised for me,
Pierced even for my iniquity.
You told me about the trials I would face,
But I’m struggling to see Your face
In this new life I have in You.

Is this what it felt like for You?
Did the rejection hurt?
Did their laughter enrage You?
Did Your tears fall in hurtful places?
I’m bruised, I’m weak,
Too broken to even speak.
I see Your hands,
I see Your heart,
I see the light You’re sending
Shining among the dark.
My heart is rejoicing,
I’m so glad to know
That in this darkness,
Your love is all I know.

I’m alive in You
Shielded, captivated,
Hopelessly full of hope.
I’m smiling,
I’m in laughter,
I’m in love.
My goodness,
My thoughts of You revitalize me;
These burdens I carry now feel light.
My laughter, my love,
My beginning, my end
You’re the perfect picture,
My glorious Friend.

I’m hopeful, I’m loved,
I’m captivated by the sound of Your whisper,
Strengthened by the strength of Your hand.
My Lord, My Love, My Savior, My Friend
I see Your smile,
I see Your face,
I see Your goodness all over this place.
The darkness has turned to light.
