In the Winter 2026 issue of Walk With God Magazine, we highlight Dr. Raphael Ikem.

My journey as both a Pastor and a Radiation and Clinical Oncologist has spanned over 15 years. Today, I serve as Chief Resident at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, leading a team of Residents and pioneering innovative treatments for cancer patients.
Few things are as rewarding as seeing a patient’s smile return through care that brings relief, healing, and hope.
In many ways, my work in oncology mirrors my work in ministry; both involve problem-solving, guidance, and walking with people through life’s most critical moments.
While the challenges are real, the joy of seeing lives transformed makes it worthwhile.
Faith remains at the center of my calling. Colossians 3:23 reminds me: “Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” This truth has shaped my work ethic, helping me navigate pressures, resist compromises, and stand firm on principles even when unpopular. I’ve learned that true service to God includes faithfulness in responsibilities, whether in church or hospital.
For aspiring doctors, I urge you to protect your walk with God, stay grounded in Scripture, and maintain balance between your career, faith, and relationships. As Genesis 39:2 declares, “The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man.” Success comes from His presence.
At WWG Magazine, we believe stories like this remind the body of Christ that faith is not confined to the pulpit; it extends into hospitals, classrooms, boardrooms, and beyond. The testimony of a believer faithfully carrying God’s truth into medicine illustrates what Kingdom leadership truly looks like: serving people with integrity, compassion, and excellence.
The Church is strengthened when its members recognize that every vocation is holy ground. Doctors, teachers, business leaders, artists, and innovators all have the opportunity to let their work reflect the heart of Christ. In this way, faith is not a separate part of life but the very foundation that transforms how we lead, heal, and build.
When believers embrace this truth, they not only shape their own legacy but also reveal God’s Kingdom on earth, inspiring others to see Christ through their lives. This is what it means to walk with God in every sphere of influence.
