Have you ever wondered why your prayers haven’t been answered?
In this article, you will be motivated to make your specific requests known to God, so that you may begin to receive them.
God knows we have desires. His Word is true, and He is able to supply all of our needs.
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him.” (Matthew 7:7–11)
When making a specific request, first go before God with a humble spirit. Remember, God owns everything. He is well able to provide shelter, food, clothing, protection, confidence, wisdom, and understanding. Ask according to His will. You must believe that He hears you and will grant your requests.

Painful Heart’s Desire: A Child
Many couples desire to have a child but cannot. There are many reasons why this may happen — ovulation disorders, tubal or uterine issues, male factors, or lifestyle choices. Some turn to physicians for help; for some it works, and for others it doesn’t. Yet we must not give up. Learn from Hannah’s story below.
An Intense Cry Within
“Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the Lord.” (1 Samuel 1:20)
Hannah grieved deeply because she could not bear a child. In those days, barrenness was seen as a curse. She was ridiculed and mocked. Out of her pain, she went before the Lord in prayer. Though her lips moved, no sound came out — she poured out her heart silently with a specific request: a son.
God heard her prayer and answered. He lifted the heavy burden off her shoulders and blessed her with Samuel. She went to the greatest Physician, her Heavenly Father, who understood the pain and shame she carried day after day. God will not put more on us than we can bear. He knows when enough is enough.
A Plea for Wisdom and Understanding
“Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. And God said … I have given thee a wise and understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.” (1 Kings 3:9–13)

A Powerful Request from a Child
Solomon was only a young man when he became king. He did not know how to rule God’s people. But Solomon knew he could call on the Lord. He asked specifically for wisdom and understanding. Because his request pleased God, not only did God give him wisdom, but He also blessed him with what he had not asked for — riches and honor.
God shows no favoritism. What He did for Solomon, He can do for you. It does not matter if you are young or old. He will hear and answer when you call, as long as your request is made in faith and aligns with His will.
Encouragement
I pray this article has blessed you and stirred your heart to bring your specific requests before God. Is there anything too hard for the Creator? You can start right now — there is no need to wait until tomorrow. God is waiting to hear from you. Believe, and you will receive.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
